The Lord Slynn Scholarship
The European Maritime Law Organisation is pleased to announce the
establishment of the Lord Slynn Scholarship for the EC maritime legal studies
in honour of the organisation's first Chairman, the Right Honourable The Lord
Slynn of Hadley, who guided EMLO during its formative stages from 1991 to 1998.
The Scholarship will be awarded to provide financial support for sustained
study of EC law and policy in the maritime sector. It may be awarded for
research or related activities which is intended to result in a substantial
work of scholarship.
The award will be made every three years and will be for a maximum of £5,000.
Candidates must provide a CV and a detailed research proposal of not more than
3000 words to the EMLO Secretariat:

The Selection of the award candidate will be made by the Lord Slynn Scholarship
Committee: Sir Francis Jacobs, Dr John Temple-Lang (Partner, Cleary Gottlieb,
Brussels) and Mr Philippe Ruttley (Partner, Clyde & Co, London).
The Decision of the Committee will be final and EMLO cannot enter into
correspondence or otherwise about the awards it makes. Applications must be
received by 1st October.
